Breaking the Status Quo

July 8, 2012

I'm here to break the status quo. I'm here to declare that it doesn't matter if I wear jeans with sparkles or a pair of black skinnies. V-necks, scoop tops, pink nails, black nails. Country music, hardcore music. Lip gloss, chap stick. I could care less. There comes a point when sticking with what you are supposed to be and who you are supposed to hang around with and what you are supposed to wear, when none of it makes any fucking difference because you are what you are and you like what you like and most importantly you love what you love.

There comes a point when it simply becomes too much of a burden to care anymore. People tell me what I can and can't do based upon "who I am".

Breaking the status quo: I will listen to mainstream music, I will date a preppy boy, I will wear sparkles and pain my nails pink and at the end of the day I will still be the chick writing on her blog and making funny faces at herself in the mirror.

Styles and music and perception shouldn't define you. While there is no disagreeing with the fact that all those things do define us, I think I'm gonna break all the rules... simply because I can.

I'm a damn American.

And there ends my annoying mainstream rant of the evening. Onto deeper and bigger thoughts that will be brought to you tomorrow when my brain cells have had enough rest to formulate them.
