Little Bit of a Fairytale

November 11, 2012

I don’t often tell stories about Princes and Princesses. They seem over told and trick young girls and boys into thinking life has the simple solution of singing a song and falling in love and before your eyes is the perfect story of happiness and perfection. Life isn’t often comparable to a fairytale. But no matter how old the girl is, a little piece of her is always going to be a princess. A little piece of each and every girl yearns to sing a song and fall in love and have a picturesque life. Whether they admit it or not, every boy wants a girl to settle down with to infinitely make him happy.

I don’t often condone fairytales. They give everyone a false hope about reality. But sometimes it’s okay to wish and sometimes and it’s okay to believe in something so outlandish that it just might come true.  Sometimes fairytales do come true. Sometimes the princess is sad. She has some internal struggle leaving her troubled and sad. Sometimes the prince has no idea who he is. He has no idea what he is going to do with life and seems to be walking in circles. Sometimes that princes and that prince find each other. He comforts her and she reassures him he has a future. They rescue one another. And sometimes just sometimes they fall deeply and madly in love with each other.

They spend long nights and early mornings snuggling under the coziness of the loving sky. They love one another and they always show it.

Sometimes fairytales don’t come true, but sometimes they do because there is a little bit of a princess in every girl out there, and there is a little bit of a prince in every boy out there.

  1. Very well said! I think the beauty comes when we realize a love based on working together to build eachother up and mutual commitment to growing in happiness and trust allows us to make our own fairytale! :)
