"Dwight, You Ignorant Slut"

With giddy butterflies and nervous shaking hands I walked into a large conference room decorated with black table cloths, dainty flower arrangements and a spread of food and beverages a mile long. But all I paid detailed attention to was the small door to the far right of the room where I new our guest of honor would be walking through in just a few minutes time.

A little background info here: I am an Office fanatic. I have seen every episode at least six times over and still to this day rewatch the show from the beginning. I love the characters and the actors; it is by far my favorite show on television. So when I was told Rainn Wilson (who plays the ever so spunky Dwight Schrute on The Office) was coming to my university I started jumping and screaming! Then of course I spent no time in devising a way to meet him.

I have a lovely boss who pulled some strings and got me a VIP pass to meet him. Rainn greeted me with a simple hello and a nice picture! Though inside that handshake and kind smile turned into an hour long conversation and drinks later that evening to pick his brain on all things acting and life (yeah right, I wish). While that part was cool and awesome and I secretly love boasting the picture I have with him, the coolest part was hearing him speak.

He talked about the campaign/book he is a apart of called Soul Pancake. The whole point of the campaign is to ask life's big question, and feel comfortable talking about things like spirituality, creativity, death, life, etc. He spoke with us about his life growing up and how that inspired him to come up with the idea to address life's big questions and even talked about some of those questions with us! Intermixed with a goofy attitude and a couple of Office references, it turned out to be an inspirational and hilarious evening! I wish I could fit it all into one blog post, but I'm afraid that would turn into a novel.

I am just so thankful I was able to meet not only one of my favorite actors, but a brilliant man who is out there working hard to make a difference for people.

If you have some time go check out Soul Pancake on YouTube! You won't be sorry!
