Being alone is one of the most liberating things a person can do. It makes you confront yourself in a way you've never had to do before. Sometimes you learn things about yourself you really wish you didn't know. You learn your true limits, but you also learn your true strengths.  You learn to appreciate your own company, and you learn how to take care of yourself.

Alone doesn't mean you don't have a significant other. Alone doesn't mean you don't have friends. Alone doesn't mean you don't have a family. It can mean all those things. But alone can be a mental state of removing yourself too.

It isn't really lonely, being alone, in fact sometimes it's really nice. But it can also be scary and quite difficult at times. You confront the demons you've been fighting off. Sometimes it hurts to confront them alone. It hurts to spend hours in solitude with your darkest thoughts as your only comfort.

But after all that it makes you stronger and more independent. After spending that time alone, you truly get to know who you are way deep down. You know yourself, you forgive yourself and you learn to trust yourself, which in my opinion is the most important thing someone can do.
