Mental for Metal

I found out the other day after feeling sick on and off for over a freakin month now, that I have mono, fantastic. It got worse this weekend, but that didn't stop me from letting out my inner metal chick.

In case I haven't made it clear yet, or if you don't know me in person, I really love metal music. It's frustrating sometimes because a lot of my friends aren't really into that kind of music, which is fine. Everyone has their own music taste, but some people refuse to see the worth that comes from metal music. The hardcore and metal music I've been listening to for years now has gotten me through some serious tough days. My being able to deal with it all comes large in part from this music I get to sink myself into, especially because bands in the metal industry focus their songs on a lot of things people like myself and others in that are into metal music go through and experience and suffer with.

So, when three of my favorite bands were playing the same night, there was no way I was going to let mono win over having the best night of my life. I was fortunate enough to see Sleeping With Sirens and Pierce the Veil on their world tour!!!! OH MY GOSH. And they were opened by Pvris, which is a band I've recently but quickly fallen in love with. The night was an absolute dream. It's wonderful being in a room filled with hundreds of people who love the same type of music you do. For me that's a big deal, even if you don't know the people around you, you can connect with them on a deeper level knowing that they are not only interested in the same thing as you, but connect with that music on a deeper level, and therefore have probably been through a lot of the same things you've been through. I feel that overwhelming sense of community floating through the room, every time I go to a metal show, and this night was no different. All of the bands blew my mind and the fans had such a fun time and I'm so thankful I got to experience them all live. This post was not meant to be this long, but I get emotional when I talk about metal music, OKAY?! Anyways, here are some shitty iPhone photos from the evening. It was seriously epic.

Also, even if you aren't into metal music, I seriously suggest checking out the above mentioned bands because they are all extremely amazing and talented.
